Take one USB drive (512 MB is fine, more is better, natch), add and get a set of completely portable applications that you can use on any computer. All of your applications, settings, and documents are stored on the USB. comes with open-source programs for anti-virus, email, web browsing, instant messaging, and office productivity. Other applications are available on the site including open-source file compression and media players.
