Vista Transformation Pack – Undo

So, I wondered if I could get back the classic Windows XP look and feel on my newly VTPd virtual PC. It’s pretty easy.

Right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose Properties. The Theme shown in the Theme drop down on the Themes tab will be Windows XP (modified). Choose Save As and name it Vista Transformation Pack. Click the Theme drop down again and choose Windows XP. Voila.

The icons are still the Vista icons, but if you really want to get the XP icons back you can change them by rebuilding the XP icon cache, probably. Oh, and the startup, shutdown, and logon screens are still the Vista screens. If you want those gone too, you need to uninstall the whole blame thing. (See the forums here.)

To return to the VTP theme, open the Theme drop down again and choose Vista Transformation.

Didn’t work… The spacing between my folders is too small and this didn’t fix it.
