Who didn’t see this coming?

Regular folks have been posting not only inane videos of themselves and their friends doing stupid and ordinary stuff on YouTube and other video sharing sites, but also movie clips, music videos, and videos using copyrighted music for a soundtrack. When Google bought YouTube, many people wondered how long before the lawyers started circling the suddenly deep-pockets GooTube.

It seems they’re starting slow with Universal Music suing Grouper.com and Bolt.com for encouraging users to share videos of their artists without their permission.

If they can get a favorable ruling in a suit against the little guys, they might be able to use it as a stick to hit Google/YouTube over the head with.
